Book Review for Killer Delivery - A Dana Capone Mystery
I typically wouldn’t choose a cop story or mystery to read. However… when the synopsis said that the main character, Dana Capone, is the daughter of a serial killer, my interest was piqued.
Added bonus: the story takes place in Austin, Texas, a place I’ve visited and enjoyed many times. The urban and Austin character descriptions are spot-on.
Dana, an Austin police detective, lives with the shadow of her psychopath father over her. As a young teen, before this story starts, Dana discovers her father is a prolific serial killer. How’s that for shaping your future? It gives her a dark and sarcastic sense of humor.
Killer Delivery is well paced, written and thought out. The characters have depth and consistency. There are good twists and turns with just enough characters (and red herrings) to keep track of and keep you guessing. Even after the climax, there is still more tension.
The ending sucks you in with the last paragraph. Yep, I have to get the next one in the series because of that ending.
One of my favorite quotes from Killer Delivery is: ‘Brandolini’s Law states that it always takes more energy to refute bullshit that it does to produce it.’
Good job, Claire Feeney.
